Hip-hop culture isn’t necessarily known for being the most welcoming community when it comes to a number of issues. Non-heterosexuality is, perhaps, at the top of the list behind women’s rights.

This history is exactly why it was inspiring when Taylor Bennett took the time to come out and tell the world he identifies as bisexual the day before his 21st birthday.

Bennett’s big brother, Chance the Rapper, was quick to show his loving support and wish him a happy birthday.

It also appears that Bennett’s courage, which was very well-received by fans, has encouraged others to be more open about their own sexuality as ILoveMakonnen came out as gay in a series of tweets the next day.

Hopefully, this is just the start of a wave of inclusion where members of the hip-hop community who also identify as part of the LGBTQ community will feel that they can comfortably come out and be welcomed.
