Teacher Shows Kids How To Wear A Du-Rag In Latest Proof We Need More Black Teachers
Despite literally forging the minds of our future, educators aren’t thanked nearly as much as they should be. Not only do they fill their students with academic knowledge, but they often play a significant role on their daily lives. Which is why having teachers students can see themselves in is crucial.
The latest example of this came after a video circulated that featured a Black teacher showing a group of young students how to properly wear a du-rag to make sure their hair is maintained at all times.

So far, the video has more than 20,000 retweets on Twitter as it spreads to even more people.
Patrick Harris, who’s a first grade teacher in Washington D.C., clearly went the extra mile here, which he should be applauded for. But he’s also a Black man and actually understands that du-rags aren’t just a fashion statement which is further proof that we need more black educators in classrooms.
