As time moves forward, more celebrities are using their influence and wealth to improve the world they live in. Most recently, Grammy-winning singer The Weeknd has donated $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement, according to Billboard.

This announcement came just days after the artist announced a $38,000 donation to the University of Toronto to establish an Ethiopian Studies program. While The Weeknd was raised in Canada, both of his parents were born in Ethiopia.

The Weeknd going a step further than a Twitter endorsement of the movement is surely to endear him in the eyes of many of his fans, and maybe even attract some new ones. Here’s to hoping that many others follow his lead.
