Trayvon Martin’s Parents Consider Future In Politics
If they were asked, Trayvon Martin’s parents wouldn’t hesitate to do whatever they could to have their son back. Unfortunately, that isn’t possible. So Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin are doing all they can with their platform to make the world better than it was when their teenage son was killed.
So far, the two have to worked with a number of community organizations, have created The Trayvon Martin Foundation and written a memoir about their experiences. The next step is for them to have their eyes on local politics and beyond.
“Somebody asked a question about us running for office, and I said it was something that we were exploring, you know, in [the] long term,” Fulton said on “Good Morning America.” “It’s not something that we’re filling out papers for, but we certainly want to look at the positions that are available locally and we want to look at the positions for the state of Florida and then U.S. positions.”
“We want to take a look at those positions to see what areas we would best fill and we would benefit from and they would benefit by having us there,” she added.
