UPDATE: More details on George Zimmerman’s arrest
George Zimmerman was arrested today around 1:30 p. m. on charges of domestic violence. While the crime he is being accused of remains unclear, we do know that the disturbance took place on Topfield Court in western Seminole County near Apopka.
WESH-Channel 2 reported that Zimmerman was accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend. Zimmerman’s new girlfriend, a 27-year-old blonde, lives in the 1300 block of Topfield Court, according to an unrelated Lake Mary police report. Zimmerman, 30, is the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer who was acquitted in July on a charge that he murdered Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black 17-year-old, last year.
Since Zimmerman’s acquittal, he’s had a string of run-ins with law enforcement. He was handcuffed, but released after his estranged wife Shellie and her father accused him of threatening them with his gun in September.
A few weeks after his trial ended, he was pulled over in Texas for speeding and given a warning.
