A Georgia man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for stealing a teenager’s iPod. Shareef Tawwab Hakim, 20, of Marietta, was convicted of robbery and aggravated assault.

  Protesters in Ferguson, Missouri shut down a local Walmart in solidarity with an unarmed 22-year-old black man who was fatally shot by police in Ohio in August. Dozens of protesters, who are in the area for a continued “Weekend of Resistance,” filed into the St. Louis Walmart at 10741 W Florissant Ave. 

    According to an analysis by Pro Publica, black males are 21 times more likely to be shot by police than their white male counterparts. The analysis was based on 1,217 deadly police shootings from 2010 to 2012.
