A 64-year-old deaf man who was  beaten by police for 7 minutes allegedly fled the scene of an accident prior to the incident. Pearl Pearson, who also suffers from diabetes, was hospitalized as a result of the altercation. His family says two Oklahoma City troopers used excessive force when they pulled Pearson over. The family of an east Texas man is demanding answers to questions surrounding the mysterious death of their loved one, Alfred Wright. The 28-year-old was found dead late last year. A medical examiner ruled the death accidental, but a pathologist hired by the family cited severe trauma to his body.

An Orange County firefighter was suspended for 12 hours after leaving a city-owned ax with a confederate flag at the scene of a house fire. Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Holton’s son admitted to painting the flag on the ax, which was left at a black man’s residence after firefighters extinguishing flames from his burning home. 

According to the latest report from the inspector general for Chicago Public Schools, some school administrators faked data to pad the school’s enrollment. Jim Sullivan, the district’s inspector general, says the trend has been a particularly troubling development in recent years. 

Chrishaun “CeCe” McDonald’s whole life changed in June 2011 when he got into a bar fight in Minneapolis. The incident resulted in the death of Dean Schmitz, 47, and McDonald sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison. Now she is free after serving 19 months in a Minnesota detention facility.

Although Washington D.C.’s professional football team has been in most of the headlines regarding mascots and team names that are offensive, Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians have taken the initiative to decrease the visibility of their offensive logo. The team has opted to adopt a “C” in place of Chief Wahoo on some of their hats.
