Simone Biles made history by becoming only the sixth woman, and first in more than a decade, to win consecutive all-around titles at the World Gymnastics Championships on Friday. Biles, 17, says she was blown away by her success.
According to an analysis by Pro Publica, black males are 21 times more likely to be shot by police than their white male counterparts. The analysis was based on 1,217 deadly police shootings from 2010 to 2012.
Another 18-year-old black male was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer in St. Louis’ Shaw neighborhood. Police Chief Sam Dotson said the man fired three shots at the officer, who returned fire in self defense. As a result of the shooting, protests in the areas have intensified.
