A 12-year-old Detroit boy who had been missing for almost two weeks was found safe and sound in his parent’s basement. Officers discovered the boy while serving a search warrant on the home as part of their investigation into his disappearance.

According to a recent report released by the California State Auditor on Thursday, nearly 40 female prison inmates in California were sterilized illegally. Of the 144 inmates who underwent tubal ligations between 2005 and 2013, one-third were performed without lawful consent.
