Arizona State University has banned recognition of a fraternity on its campus after it threw an offensive MLK-themed party.  Tau Kappa Epsilon’s presence was permanently revoked after their “MLK Black Party” left many on the campus offended. 

The Arizona State University chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon has been suspended due to a party the organization threw over the MLK holiday weekend. According to reports, the fraternity held an “MLK Black Out Party,” where party-goers drank from watermelon cups and took pictures while holding up gang signs, among other things. 

A 64-year-old deaf man who was  beaten by police for 7 minutes allegedly fled the scene of an accident prior to the incident. Pearl Pearson, who also suffers from diabetes, was hospitalized as a result of the altercation. His family says two Oklahoma City troopers used excessive force when they pulled Pearson over.
