Cornel West has joined his radio cohost Tavis Smiley in blasting the POTUS in the wake of his Trayvon Martin speech last Friday. Speaking with Democracy Now, West called President Obama “a global George Zimmerman” for his use of deadly drone attacks overseas.
The jury from the George Zimmerman trial were reportedly allowed to spend hours s of alone time with friends and family: “It only takes two seconds for an inappropriate comment to be made to a juror by a family member inadvertently or otherwise to possibly affect the verdict, how they look at the case…”

President Obama spoke to the African American perspective on the George Zimmerman trial at a press conference today; drawing parallels between himself and Trayvon, and suggesting that the outcome of the trial might have been different had Martin been white.
20-year old AJ Thomas reflects on black womanhood, and her commitment to the struggle: “I am no longer a slave to my fears, to others opinions and perceptions of me, to stereotypes, to any negativity. I am an advocate. I am a Black woman and I WILL make a difference. I declare that today I woke up as a wild thing – as a Black woman in all of her glory, with love for herself and love for her people.”
According to Bill Cosby, one cannot prove that a person, Zimmerman in this case, is racist unless they say something like, “Hey, I’m racist,” and we should thus not talk about “racial stuff” regarding the reason for and outcome of the case:

76-year old John Henry Spooner will finally stand trial for the murder of 13-year old Darius Simmons. Spooner shot Simmons in front of his mother because he suspected him of stealing his guns.
15-year old Temar Boggs is being hailed as a hero after helping to rescue an abducted 5-year old girl. After joining a search party for the child, Boggs started following a suspicious car on his bike. Realizing he was being tailed, the kidnapper let the missing girl out of the car and drove off.
