The story of Kunta Kinte, Kizzy, Chicken George, and the rest of Alex Haley’s ancestors is now being rebooted by the History Channel. The trailer has just been released, giving a first look at the newer adaptation of the classic story.

Queen Bey literally owned the past 48 hours of everyone’s lives. More importantly though, she used her station as arguably the world’s biggest pop star to address the issues facing Black Americans around the country.

The History Channel intends to remake Roots. Mark Wolper, whose father was the executive producer of the miniseries, sold the rights to the channel. The network is in talks with writers for the project, which will draw inspiration from both the book and the original mini series.
