A young girl who faced expulsion for her natural hair has been allowed to remain enrolled in her school. Â 12-year-old Vanessa VanDyke says that school officials gave her one week to decide whether to change her hair or leave Faith Christian Academy in Orlando. Vanessa has attended the parochial school since the third grade.Â
The family of a woman who died in a crowded jail cell in Brooklyn held a rally to mark the four month anniversary of her death. 37-year-old Kyam Livingston was dead for 20 minutes before EMS arrived. Fellow prisoners said that she begged and pleaded for help for hours.

A judge threw out the conviction of a 53-year-old man who has spent the last 34 years behind bars for murder. Kash Delano Register was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison for killing 78-year-old Jack Sasson in April of 1979.
