  Residents in Ferguson, Missouri are preparing for a “Weekend of Resistance” set to take place in St. Louis over the weekend. The protests are a result of another 18-year-old black male who was killed by police in St. Louis’ Shaw neighborhood earlier this week. 

  According to a report released by the Los Angeles Youth Justice Coalition, law enforcement in the city kill on average about one person a week. Since 2000, nearly 600 people, many of them young black and Latino men, have lost their lives at the hands of police.

A 12-year-old Detroit boy who had been missing for almost two weeks was found safe and sound in his parent’s basement. Officers discovered the boy while serving a search warrant on the home as part of their investigation into his disappearance. 

At least two were killed and 25 others wounded in shootings across Chicago over Father’s Day weekend. The last homicide took place on the city’s west side just after midnight Sunday. 17-year-old Brandon Petreson was gunned down while standing with a group in the 3100 block of West Polk Street.

A Chicago teen who collapsed during a high school basketball game last weekend has died. Jermaine Cullum, 16, was a sophomore at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep High School. He was playing in a tournament at Riverside Brookfield High School when he collapsed on the court after a layup.

A Houston area man says he found a noose hanging in his workplace not once, but twice in the same week. Jeremee Molo first noticed a noose hanging from a piece of equipment at Atlas Copco on Tuesday.
