Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a road map to end New York City’s appeal of a judge’s stop-and-frisk ruling. De Blasio’s announcement means that the city believes what Michael Bloomberg did not— that the previous administration abused stop-and-frisk policing.  The practice has long been criticized for racially profiling minorities. 

According to a recent study, black and Latino “hip-hop” students are disproportionately punished in urban schools. The study’s lead researcher and Michigan State University Assistant Professor of Education Muhammad Khalifa found that students who identified with hip-hop culture were often removed from school because of their dress and cultural behaviors.

Art Laffer, an economist and former member of the Reagan administration, was unequivocal in his thoughts about minimum wage. During an interview on Fox News, Laffer called for Congress to repeal minimum wage, because it’s basically the Black Teenage Unemployment Act.”
