Grammy-award winning artist and activist John Legend has partnered with the NAACP to promote voting rights efforts across the country. The partnership was formed in hopes of restoring the Voting Rights Act, back to its original form and raising awareness of the obstacles that minority voters face.
Activists in Chicago’s Bronzeville community are tired of losing schools in the district. After plans by Chicago Public Schools to close more than 50 schools in the city went into effect, residents and community members are saying that enough is enough. They are fighting to keep Dyett High School, the neighborhood’s last CPS high school open.Â

The U.S. government hasn’t raised its minimum wage since 2009. Those earning the minimum make $7.25 hr., an income bracket that is sure to keep them in poverty. But according to a new Gallup poll, 58% of self-identified republicans would vote to raise the minimum wage to $9 hr.
