According to the Chicago Tribune, two young men have been charged with murder in the shooting of Hadiya Pendleton. The two suspects were reportedly out for revenge after a previous shooting. They mistook a friend of Pendleton’s for a rival gang member.

Embattled former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has reportedly signed a plea deal that will involve “significant jail time.” A source has told the Chicago Sun-Times that jail time would definitely be a part of any plea deal, and that his wife Sandi is the subject of a probe of her own.
The search for Christopher Dorner, a former LAPD office and member of the US Armed Forces who had allegedly killed three people, continues. Dorner feels that he was wrongfully terminated from the LAPD in 2008 for reporting another officer’s brutality against a disabled suspect.

Michelle Obama will reportedly attend the funeral of Hadiya Pendleton. She’ll be accompanied by Valerie Jarret, senior adviser to the President, and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Services will be held at the Greater Harvest Baptist Church, at 5121 State Street at 9am.
