A few weeks ago, we reported on “The Harriet Tubman Sextape,” a satirical attempt at revisionist history. The “comedic” bit argued that Harriet Tubman’s ability to lead slaves to freedom was the result of a blackmail attempt: she had sex with her white master and videotaped it. Folks took issue with Russell Simmons for the skit, because his company aired and funded the project. In response to public pressure, Simmons took down the video and apologized. Game over, right? Wrong.
