A Texas death row inmate who pinned a letter to a member of Gawker media declaring his innocence has been executed. Ray Jasper, 33, was put to death by lethal injection Wednesday. He was convicted fourteen years ago for the murder and robbery of a San Antonio recording studio owner.Â

Former NFL star Darren Sharper returns to court Thursday for a hearing in Los Angeles that will determine whether he is released on bail. The decision follows a new set of charges against Sharper alleging that he sexually assaulted and drugged two women in Tempe, Ariz. last year.Â

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said that his office would investigate 16-year-old Darrin Manning’s claim that a female police officer seriously injured his testicles during a stop-and-frisk. During a news conference on Thursday, Williams said, “when allegations are made about misconduct from a police officer, it erodes the public’s trust of law enforcement.”

A 64-year-old deaf man who was  beaten by police for 7 minutes allegedly fled the scene of an accident prior to the incident. Pearl Pearson, who also suffers from diabetes, was hospitalized as a result of the altercation. His family says two Oklahoma City troopers used excessive force when they pulled Pearson over.
