The family of an elderly man who died of a heart attack after being ignored by firefighters in front of a Washington D.C. fire station is demanding that the department fire everyone involved. The family of Medric Mills called for the firing of firefighters, dispatchers and supervisors associated with the Jan. 25 incident. 

Dr. Michael V. Drake has been named president of Ohio State University. This marks the first time that the state’s largest university system will be headed by an African American. Drake is the 15th president of the system. 

Columbine High School and nearby schools in Colorado were placed of lockout status after a series of threatening phone calls. Under the lockout, school business goes on as usual, but no one can enter or leave the building. The alert has since been lifted.

A man called police to report a stolen vehicle, now he’s planning for a funeral. James Comstock called authorities after his 19-year-old son Tyler stole his vehicle to go purchase cigarettes. Ames County Police Officer Adam McPherson pursued Comstock, and during the chase Comstock rammed McPherson’s car.

The FBI has taken over an investigation where a 13-year-old boy was shot 7 times by police. Andy Lopez was killed by a Northern California deputy while walking down the street with a pellet gun that looked like an assault rifle. Sheriff Steve Freitas plans to fully cooperate with federal investigators.
