An Oregon college student is suing his university for discrimination. Jayce Marcus, who is transgender, is a sophomore at George Fox University in Newberg. He applied for on-campus housing in one of the school’s male dormitories, but was denied admission.Â
 A North Carolina student says she was discriminated against after using a women’s bathroom. Andraya Williams, who is a member of the transgender community, was headed to class after using the ladies’ washroom at the Overcash Building at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte when the incident occurred.Â

 The University of Illinois’ Board of Trustees voted to add ‘Gender Confirmation Surgery’ to student health insurance. The vote, which landed with 8 out of 9 in favor of the addition, means that transgender students would be allowed to undergo sexual reassignment surgery, and be covered under the student health plan.
For as long as the site has existed, users have only had two options when describing their gender on Facebook. Now, the site has added additional options for those who do not identify as male of female.Â
A 17-year old North Carolina high school student has made history by becoming the first transgender teen crowned Homecoming King in North Carolina. Senior Blake Brockington was nominated by his peers this year to be East Meck High School’s 2014 Homecoming King. The announcement was made during the halftime ceremony inside the school gym Friday night.Â
