A California lawyer who is representing the family of a teenager girl declared brain dead has pinned an open letter in defense of the family’s decision. Christopher Dolan’s letter appeared in the Los Angeles Times earlier this week. 

A Mesa, Arizona kindergarten teacher was arrested on Wednesday after he forcibly removed a six-year-old girl’s shirt.  Thomas Washburn left the child standing half-naked in front of classmates for ten minutes as punishment. 

A 64-year-old deaf man who was  beaten by police for 7 minutes allegedly fled the scene of an accident prior to the incident. Pearl Pearson, who also suffers from diabetes, was hospitalized as a result of the altercation. His family says two Oklahoma City troopers used excessive force when they pulled Pearson over. A 15-year-old Detroit teenager is back home after a stranger took action to prevent the girl from being kidnapped. On Tuesday around 8 p.m. the teen was walking along Philip Street on Detroit’s east side when she was approached by a man. 

Actor James Avery had a series of medical issues that contributed to his passing. The findings come as a result of an autopsy conducted on the star who played Uncle Phil on the hit 90s sitcom “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” Avery died from complications following open heart surgery on Dec. 31.

A new Illinois law will hopefully curb the student-to-prison pipeline in the state requires 17-year-olds to be turned over to the juvenile courts instead of adult law facilities. The law sets the bar for felony prosecution to age 18.
