After portraying Harrison Wright a.k.a. “brother Pope” on the hit ABC television show Scandal for three seasons, actor Columbus Short will no longer appear on the show. Short, 31, released the following statement about his departure from the show on Friday.

Two lawsuits have been filed alleging that a private youth prison operator in Florida actively covered up sexual abuse against young people in its care. The suits claim that the company Youth Services International, frequently turned a blind eye to the misconduct.
