Civil Rights leader and activist Al Sharpton met with Barney’s New York CEO on Tuesday to discuss the recent racial profiling allegations filed against the high-end retailer. Two black customers accused Barney’s of discrimination two weeks ago after being detained by police in two separate incidents.

Kanye West has responded to news that the department store Barney’s racially profiles its customers. At a Yeezus Tour stop in Vegas, West spoke at length about a variety of things, including shopping while black. Tying the incidents into his song “New Slaves,” the star referenced the cases of Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips.
Interracial dating is controversial enough, but a few couples are “reclaiming” their right to date who they want by using “race play” as a form of intimacy. The practice brings racial epithets, submission and re-enactments of slavery to the bedroom.

Art Palmer is the fourth man to come forward and say that he was unfairly racially profiled while shopping at a New York Macy’s. It looks like Barney’s isn’t the only department store who is suspicious of its black shoppers. The New York Post is reporting that a lawsuit has been filed against the NYPD and Macy’s. The complaint comes from actor Robert Brown, who says that he was arrested after making a purchase at a Sunglass Hut inside the store.
