  According to a report released by the American Civil Liberties Union, blacks are 11 times more likely to be arrested for low-level non-violent offenses in Minneapolis than their white counterparts. The data released covers white and black arrest rates for four low-level non-violent offenses: disorderly conduct, marijuana possession, vagrancy and juvenile curfew violations/loitering. 

    A North Carolina instructor is under investigation for allegedly making racist comments to high school students in class. According to a parent of a student who attends Camden County High School, the incident happened a couple of weeks ago.

Not even a week after a Maryland student was reprimanded for bringing a Confederate flag to school property, two more students have committed the same offense. A photo circling the Internet shows students at Glenelg High School raising the Confederate flag at the school’s football game last Friday. 

According to a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, 56 percent of New York City voters feel that police issuing summonses and making arrests for low-level offenses improves the quality of life in a neighborhood.
