California has adopted legislation that will eliminate drug sentencing disparities between crack and cocaine possession convictions. The disparity is found to disproportionately burden people of color, and contribute to racial discrimination in the state’s prison system. 

  A Texas man is facing the death penalty after killing a police officer who was part of a raid on his home. On Friday, May 9, 2014, Marvin Louis Guy shot an officer who he thought was an intruder. They were looking for drugs, yet none were found in the home. 

  The media continues to stigmatize Blacks with full force and propaganda, convincing viewers that they are corrupt and violent. Calling Blacks thugs, further implying that our days consist of gun and gang violence thus bringing to conclusion that this is what greatly contributes to the destruction of the Black community.
