Ray Rice will appeal his indefinite suspension with the NFL. The former Baltimore Ravens running back will argue the NFL based it off a cleaned up, edited version of the security tape from a Revel Casino elevator showing the star punch his then-fiance Janay Palmer. 

    The NFL Players Union appealed Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension on Wednesday. Rice was originally suspended for two games in July under the NFL’s personal conduct policy after being charged with assault following a Feb. 15 altercation with his then-fiance. 

A 17-year-old high school senior has staged a protest after getting rejected from the University of Michigan. Brooke Kimbrough says she always dreamed of attending the school, believes she was rejected due to racial inequity. 

North Carolina’s Supreme Court heard arguments about whether it should reinstate death sentences for four inmates whose punishments were reduced. The appeal seeks to challenge the ruling of a law that allowed certain criminal defendants to challenge their sentences on the grounds of racial bias in their prosecutions. 

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a road map to end New York City’s appeal of a judge’s stop-and-frisk ruling. De Blasio’s announcement means that the city believes what Michael Bloomberg did not— that the previous administration abused stop-and-frisk policing.  The practice has long been criticized for racially profiling minorities.
