Laughter and pain have always had an intimate, almost symbiotic relationship. So it’s fully appropriate for writer, producer and activist Agunda Okeyo to explore that relationship when it comes to the pain that black people encounter through her stand-up comedy showcase. 

Jamie Foxx is no stranger to advocating for justice. Since the Trayvon Martin incident, Foxx has been active in speaking out for justice for the teen and his family. This past weekend, Foxx hosted celebrities at a fundraiser for the Trayvon Martin Foundation.

Glen James, a homeless man living in Boston turned in more that $40,000 in traveler’s checks and cash to police. Because of that, a fundraising campaign has been started in his honor.

According to reports, Mrs. Obama threatened to leave the fundraiser after confronting a protester who interrupted her planned speech: “‘One of the things that I don’t do well is this,’ she said to applause from most of the guests, according to a White House transcript. ‘Do you understand?'”
