Hampton University’s lowest-paid employees will now see a boost in their paychecks thanks to the university’s President. William R. Harvey and his wife Norma, donated $108,403 to the school in support of a wage increase for 121 permanent, full-time staff members earning less than $9 an hour.

A Hampton University student says she has to prove that she is Muslim in order to attend school. Melona Clarke wears a hijab as part of her faith, but if she doesn’t have documentation to prove it, she will get kicked off campus.

Although the outrage over a Hampton University business school program’s no-dreadlock-or-cornrows policy continues, the school has once again doubled down: “These students choose to be in this program and aspire to be leaders in the business world. We model these students after the top African-Americans in the business world.”

Hampton University has banned some of it’s male business students from wearing dreadlocks or cornrows. Sid Credle, dean of Hampton’s business school, maintains that such hairstyles prevent students from securing employment once they graduate. What do you think?
