Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took home four Grammys at last month’s biggest music awards ceremony. Three in rap categories, despite most of the general population categorizing the duo as having a more pop-inclined sound. But according to New York Times contributor Jon Caramanica, they’re not doing anything new. 

For the first since Sunday, Kendrick Lamar has responded to Macklemore’s win. The star was nominated for 7 Grammys, four of which Macklemore took home. While talking with XXL after last night’s Don Kennedy show, Lamar had the following the say about Macklemore’s win. 

It was a big day for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The Seattle-based duo took home four GRAMMYs, and while he should be out celebrating, the rapper took to social media to post a photo of a text he sent to Kendrick Lamar. 

First, I’d like to start by saying that I do not think Macklemore is better than Kendrick Lamar. Other than “Thrift Shop” and “Same Love,” not much happening on his debut album in my opinion. But where Kendrick and other artists who probably should have been awarded GRAMMYs lacked, Macklemore gladly picked up the ball.
