A mother and son will both walk across the stage to receive their degrees from Chicago State University. Aaron Williams, 22, and his mother Tonya, 48, will collect their bachelor’s degrees on Thursday.Â
 A group of white Georgia high school seniors thought it would be funny to place a “n***a we made it!” sign on the side of their high school as a senior prank early Wednesday. Forsyth County high school officials say they were angered when they discovered the derogatory sign.Â
Members of Arkansas’ Supreme Court tossed out a judge’s ruling to strike down the state’s voter ID law on Wednesday. In a 5-2 ruling, justices vacated the Pulaski County judge’s decision that the law violates the state’s constitution.Â
Police arrested six students at Streamwood High School on Tuesday, after a race-related fight broke out among them. No one was seriously injured, but one student did have a bloody lip.Â
Yesterday, Ras Baraka claimed the mayoral seat of Newark, NJ. Baraka, a councilman and activist, beat law professor Shavar Jeffries for the seat left vacant by Cory Booker, who is now a senator in Washington. Baraka won 54% of the vote.
Magic Johnson has responded to remarks made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling. In a bizarre interview with Anderson Cooper that aired Monday, Sterling questioned Johnson’s character, as well as his contributions to the African American community. During an interview with CNN on Tuesday, Johnson made the following statement:

A Chicago teen who collapsed during a high school basketball game last weekend has died. Jermaine Cullum, 16, was a sophomore at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep High School. He was playing in a tournament at Riverside Brookfield High School when he collapsed on the court after a layup.Â
