Chicago Public Schools is doing what it can to help support students who would be affected by President Trump’s recent crackdown on immigration. As a start, the school system has informed principals that they shouldn’t grant immigration enforcement officials access to school property without warrants.

Takiya Holmes was sitting in a parked car with her mother, aunt and younger brother when a stray bullet struck her in the head this past Saturday. Takiya never regained consciousness and was in critical condition at Comer Children’s Hospital. Despite her mother’s constant pleas, Takiya never woke up and died Tuesday morning.
