A representative for the NBC sketch-comedy Saturday Night Live confirmed on Thursday that it will add one or two black female performers to its cast. The announcement comes after growing complaints about the show’s lack of diversity and inclusion of women of color.
Saturday Night Live, the longest running network show in the country, recently announced new members of its cast. Shockingly, (not really), there are no black women cast members. This marks the sixth year since a black woman has been on the show.
