According to a recent study, black and Latino “hip-hop” students are disproportionately punished in urban schools. The study’s lead researcher and Michigan State University Assistant Professor of Education Muhammad Khalifa found that students who identified with hip-hop culture were often removed from school because of their dress and cultural behaviors.

When Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s administration announced new voting practices for the state last year, civil rights groups and local officials protested. The groups said that African Americans and Latinos would be unfairly targeted and not be able to vote. Turns out they were right.

A north St. Louis man claims he was unfairly targeted, harassed and detained by police officers. 21-year-old Terry Robinson said officers saw him outside in the Blair neighborhood, handcuffed him and pretended to drive back to the police station. 

The number of stop-and-frisks occurrences conducted by the NYPD has declined by 80 percent in recent months compared to this time last year. Officers also recovered fewer weapons according to data obtained from the police department on Monday.
