I know, with the recent run by the USA in the World Cup and the 4th of July coming up, people are feeling real patriotic. Sadly, as demonstrated by the recent death of Denzell “Jaba” Curry, the lives of people of color are still not valued in America.

In Pittsburgh,  Leon Ford Jr., was shot 5 times by Pittsburgh Police officers and paralyzed after a car stop, despite having his license, registration, and no weapons. Today we found out that the police department’s own internal investigation was critical of the officers who shot Leon and concluded the entire incident could have been avoided. Despite this information the city is still charging Leon with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and resisting arrest. He’s facing up to 20 years in prison.

Inspired by the Dream Defenders #neverlovedus campaign, I decided to speak on these recent cases of American injustice over Drake’s Worst Behavior instrumental. #NeverLovedUs was shot by Haute Muslim for 1Hood Media and includes students from the 1Hood Media Academy.
