Blerd City Con is coming to New York from July 13-15! The three-day conference will host multiple Sci-fi/Horror/Fantasy workshops, screenings, book readings, panels and more!

The conference is described as “Black + Nerd = BLERD, a blend of a micro-Comic Con with the intersectionality of social issues facing people of color.”

Blerd City’s founder Clairesa Clay says, “I want the audience to experience Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy by the talents of leading writers as well as filmmakers, coders, and creators of the African Diaspora who are serving the community of black and Nerdy.”

Blerd City is the Afro-futurist “Black + Nerdy” vision come alive with its multitude of showcases and celebrations of the complex creativity of Black nerdiness. The conference boasts a formidable and innovative speaker list which includes Clayton Banks, CEO of Silicon Harlem; Sheree Renée Thomas, who authored Dark Matter: A Century of Speculative Fiction from the African Diaspora; and Regine Sawyer, who is the owner of Lockett Down Production and founder of the Women in Comics Collective International.

While Blerd City serves as a creative platform to showcase Black nerdy art and performances, it is also an ample business opportunity to connect and work with creative Black businesses.
