Egypt bans ‘Exodus’ movie for historical inaccuracies
Egypt has banned the showing of the film “Exodus: Gods and Kings” in the country due to historical inaccuracies.
Egyptian Culture Minister Gaber Asfour scoffed at an apparent claim in the film that “Moses and the Jews built the pyramids.”
“This totally contradicts proven historical facts,” Mr. Asfour said, The Guardian reported.
“It is a Zionist film,” he added. “It gives a Zionist view of history and contains historical inaccuracies, and that’s why we have decided to ban it.”
The ban was decided by a committee comprised of the head of the supreme council for culture, the head of the censorship committee and two history professors, according to Mr. Asfour.
In addition to whitewashing the film, it appears that the creators of “Exodus: Gods and Kings” have little regard for conveying the historical truth about Moses. Sounds like this film should not have been made.
