Should Jay Z discontinue his partnership with Barney’s? Some folks think so.
Ever since news broke of 19-year-old Trayon Christian’s lawsuit against the department store, Jay Z has been feeling the heat.
Christian filed a lawsuit against both Barney’s and the NYPD after he was wrongfully arrested in April while purchasing a belt from the store.
A second woman, Kayla Phillips has also come forward, alleging that she was unfairly profiled by Barney’s staff and NYPD police.
Because of this, critics are asking Jay Z to end his partnership with the chain.
So far, Jay Z has not commented on the controversy. The hip-hop mogul has lent his name to a limited-edition line of clothes and jewelry that will go on sale in the store Nov. 20.
A Shawn Carter by Hublot watch made with black alligator straps priced at $33,900, along with his clothing line will be featured in Barney’s new collection.
The campaign hits stores in Manhattan, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.
The incident has been a nightmare for Barney’s, with an online petition calling for a boycott of the store.
