Photo series sheds light on what’s it’s like to be black at Harvard
63 Harvard College of students have opted to participate in a photo campaign that explores the diverse experience faced by students of color.
The “I, Too, Am Harvard” campaign highlights the faces and voices of blacks students attending the prestigious learning institution.
Our voices often go unheard on this campus, our experiences are devalued, our presence is questioned– this project is our way of speaking back, of claiming this campus, of standing up to say: We are here. This place is ours. We, TOO, are Harvard.
The campaign is inspired by a play of the same name. “I, Too, Am Harvard, is a production based on interviews with members of the black community that explore or affirm the experiences of black students at Harvard.
The original play premieres on Friday March 7th, 2014 at 7 PM in Lowell Lecture Hall on the campus of Harvard College.
