According to a recent report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 25 percent of black homes were food insecure in 2011.
In other words, 1 in 4 African American households did not know where their next meal was coming from.
“Food insecurity is defined as struggling to put food on the table and often not knowing where your next meal will come from. Who knew that was a dictionary term now?
African-American households with children were hit harder than the U.S. population as a whole. While 20.6 percent of all households with children were food insecure, 29.2 percent of African-American households with children were food insecure.”
