#SOBU: Black Lives Matter to release the State of the Black Union
At 3 pm E.S.T, the State of the Black Union will be released online by Black Lives Matter. The pre-recorded response to President Obama’s speech, will include representatives from Dream Defenders, Trans Women of Color Collective and Justice League NYC.From Black Lives Matter:
The State of the Black Union will be released on Wednesday, January 21st and will highlight the voices of Black people from across the country, including members of the following endorsing organizations: Justice League NYC, Millennial Activists United, Black Lives Matter, Trans Women of Color Collective, Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, Dream Defenders, Black and Brown People Vote, Million Hoodies Movement for Justice, Black Alliance for Just Immigration, the African American Policy Forum, ThinkMoor, Unchained, Millions March NYC, BYP 100, Freedom Side, Ohio Students Association, Hands Up United and the Organization for Black Struggle.
The State of the Black Union will be released January 21st at 3pm EST atblacklivesmatter.com. Following the release, a town hall will take place on Twitter at 8pm EST using the hashtag #SOBU. The town hall discussion and social media campaign will serve as an opportunity for all Black people – men and women, trans, queer and straight, young and old – to share their reflections of this historic year and to express their vision for progress in 2015 and beyond.
