Support the Black Youth Project this #GivingTuesday
December 2, 2014
Greetings,
Never has it been more important to amplify the voices and support the leadership of Black youth. Across the country young Black people from Ferguson to Cleveland find their basic humanity and existence threatened, often at the hands of the state. At The Black Youth Project we are committed to fighting back against this trend.
Daily we work to document the attitudes, lift up the voices and build a movement of young Black people and their allies. From our monthly publication of original research on Black youth-“The Policing of Black Communities and Young People of Color”- to the mobilization of young people through the BYP100-“BYP100 stages ‘Die-In’ in response to Mike Brown grand jury decision” -we labor to build a world in which all young people are respected and provided the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. In just the past year, the BYP100 have trained and mobilized a new base of leaders engaging in direct action campaigns in Oakland, Chicago, Washington DC, New York and New Orleans.
Today marks #GivingTuesday, a day where we give back to the organizations and groups working to make our communities, better, safer and places of productive struggle. We ask that you consider making a donation to the BYP and BYP100 today. Any amount will be appreciated and will help us continue our work to engage and empower young Black people across the country. Please consider donating today. Thank you!
Sincerely,
