Bey moved to South Africa last year. During an interview with Rolling Stonehe stated that he’d “lived in Brooklyn 33 years of my life. I thought I’d be buried in that place. And around seven years ago, I was like, you know, ‘I gotta go, I gotta leave.”

Bey, whose birth name is Dante Terrell Smith, moved to the country in May 2013. It is unclear what kind of discrepancies are preventing Bey from re-entering the U.S.
