Michael Brown, Jr. was murdered in cold blood last August in Ferguson, MO. Now, a life-sized model of his dead body is on display in an “art exhibit” in the historically Black neighborhood of Bronzeville in Chicago. Sadly, it epitomizes the very definition of the White Privilege and racism it seeks to rebuke.

It is painfully obvious that Hollywood has a race problem. Hit movie after hit movie features lead characters who are phenotypically White while movies with diverse casts are categorized as “race-themed” movies. Dylan Marron, a self-described “Neo Futurist” and performer, sliced up a few top films which perfectly highlight this point.

The Kardashian-Jenners are no strangers when it comes to public drama. Usually, it’s the older half sisters of Kylie Jenner who are caught in public confrontation. However, a recent spat between Kylie Jenner (best known for being someone else’s half sister)  and Amandla Stenberg (beloved Black actress from the Hunger Games series) highlights just […]

The church is just a short drive from Ferguson, the city where Michael Brown was murdered by Officer Darren Wilson last August. While Clinton’s speech was meant to score points […]

Queer rapper Mykki Blanco, born Michael Quattlebaum, Jr., has established himself firmly in the music industry. His talents as a rapper, artist, and poet have garnered him respect in many social and professional circles which typically exclude LGBTQ folks. So, he is no stranger to breaking mainstream norms and overcoming social stigma. Blanco’s recent […]

Last night around 8pm, a twenty-something year-old White male walked into the historic Emanuel AME church in Charleston, South Carolina. He came there with a loaded gun and at least five rounds of ammunition. As the twelve Black men, women, and children who were present in that church prayed and invited this man into their […]

Last night around 9pm, a 21-year-old White male, now identified as Dylann Storm Roof, walked into the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. There he killed eight people. A ninth died at the hospital later. Here is what we know so far. Surveillance footage captured images of Roof as he entered the church last […]

This post was originally titled “Rachel Dolezal and the Audacity of Whiteness.” I was completely prepared to rage against the machine and rehash what everyone else has said about this ordeal. But, then, I realized that I am tired of Rachel Dolezal, whiteness, and all the intersections thereof. When it came time to write […]
