Abducted Toddler Presumed Dead; Mother’s Version of Events Questionable
Authorities have been frantically searching for 1 and a half year-old Bryeon Hunter.
Less than two days after an AMBER alert was issued for him in Illinois, Hunter is unfortunately presumed dead.
What’s worse, the version of a events surrounding the abduction given by Bryeon’s mother has now been called into question.
His mother – 23 year-old Lakeshia Baker – claims she was abducted and beaten by three men, before they dropped her off and took her child. Authorities say this account is likely inaccurate.
As of Wednesday, however, the Sun-Times reports Maywood police believed Baker’s statements were untrue. “We believe this to be an isolated event and not one that was described as three men committing an abduction,” Maywood Police Chief Tim Curry said according to the Sun-Times.
Baker and her boyfriend were initially brought to the Maywood police station for questioning after she was released from the hospital, ABC Chicago reports. Relatives say both remained in police custody Wednesday night, and according to ABC, each was apparently blaming the other for Bryeon’s disappearance.
