Ferguson police don ‘I am Darren Wilson’ bracelets?
On Wednesday, a video of an alleged Ferguson, Missouri officer wearing an “I am Darren Wilson” bracelet in support of the officer who fatally wounded an 18-year-old unarmed black teen surfaced online.
The picture was posted to the MediaBlackOutUsa Instagram account.
Missouri Highway Patrolman Capt. Ron Johnson confirmed the bracelets are real, but insists they are not a reflection of Ferguson’s police department.
Johnson says the officers who wear the bracelets are more of a personal statement. The photos surfaced just one day after a memorial dedicated to the memory of Michael Brown.
A Facebook page in support of Darren Wilson, has close to 80,000 likes. A GoFundMe page for the officer has reached $500,000.
It seems like these bracelets only fuel tensions that already exist between police and citizens.
