Rep. Jim Clyburn: Attacks On Susan Rice Are Race-Based
In an interview with CNN, Representative Jim Clyburn asserted that the attacks on UN Ambassador Susan Rice are race-based
He points to the uncalled fore use of terms like “lazy” and “incompetent” to describe Rice; words historically used to undermine African Americans.
“You know, these are code words,” Clyburn said. “We heard them during the campaign. During this recent campaign, we heard Senator Sununu calling our president lazy, incompetent—these kinds of terms that those of us, especially those of us who were grown and raised in the South, we would hear these little words and phrases all of our lives, and we’d get insulted by them.”
Led by Senators Lindsay Graham and John McCain, Republicans have vowed to block the appo0intment of Susan Rice as the Obama Administration’s Secretary of State; pointing mainly to her media appearances in the wake of the Benghazi terrorist attack earlier this year.
The Obama administration says Rice was simply using talking points supplied to her by the intelligence community.
Would Susan Rice make a good Secretary of State?
