10-year-old Dismantles the Classist U.S. Criminal Justice System
In a thirty second video, an elementary student from Texas breaks down the classist structure of America’s criminal justice system. His take down of the system occurred during a school debate, and so far this viral video has received over 66,000 retweets.
This ten year old knows how to tackle the justice system in a way that politicians who’ve held office for decades still do not know how to articulate. Apparently, his favorite show is not SpongeBob Squarepants but OJ Simpson vs. The People. His voice is calm and collected while he states that the rich have the money and the resources to get out of the system while the poor do not. We need more young people who realize the corrupt, classist, and broken nature of our system. When we rely on the same old, white men to enact change, we are relying on people who have benefited from the very classist system that this Texan ten year old is trying to dismantle. This boy has not held an office yet, but I know that this is not the last that we’ve heard of him.
