Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s gorgeous track “Video Games” tore up the blogs this past year, entrancing viewers with its addictive, bizarrely poetic, pout-filled YouTube video. Obviously Del Rey is absolutely gorgeous, but that’s probably the least interesting thing about her. Her sound and image are what’s really had people talking (i.e. hating), recalling Amy Winehouse with its 60’s glamor-meets-Hip Hop qualities (though she’s more Nancy Sinatra than Ronnie Spector)

And then there’s the actual song. “Video Games” is a haunting and absolutely beautiful ballad. So good, in fact, that even her detractors don’t deny its power. Instead, they deny Del Rey’s ability to follow it up with anything that will even remotely match its majesty.

Well, I think they’re dead fucking wrong. Trust me; I know a star when I see one.

Check out her just released new single “Born 2 Die” below.
