Under Armour has worked its way into the sporting goods market and has snagged some major athletes as ambassadors, many of which are people of color. So one can see why it would breed conflict after CEO Kevin Plank went on record to say that he felt Donald Trump was “a real asset” to the United States.

Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors already made his stance on the president clear in an interview. Another high profile athlete of Under Armour has also come out and taken an even stronger stance than Curry.

Misty Copeland, the famous black ballet dancer, took to her Instagram to speak out on the controversy and where she falls.

“I have spoken at length with Kevin privately about the matter, but as someone who takes my responsibility as a role model very seriously, it is important to me that he, and UA, take public action to clearly communicate and reflect our common values in order for us to effectively continue to work towards our shared goal of trying to motivate ALL people to be their best selves,” she wrote.

Under Armour has made a statement to clarify that the company’s values haven’t changed and that they disprove of most of what Trump supports. These are mixed signals, at best.
